While taking pictures on the Galt Street bridge, this City of Verdun truck was watering the flour boxes automatically from the driver's seat. Reminded me of the Canadarm.

Ps: This site is monitored but not actively posting on a regular basis. I believe the arm was invented years ago when Verdun had the floods. They would fill a high wheeled water truck with beer and go around to serve people on the upper floors. People would sit on their galleries waiting with buckets in hand. Since they didn't have refrigeration some guys would just shower in it and lick it off later. Thus was the basis of that sad Elvis song, 'My Bucket's Got a Hole In It' There is a rumour that if you had no bucket they'd fill your shoe. Nonsense shoes back then had more holes than buckets. Besides it made your socks wet. Ed
I Remember this well ,edbro,.Sadly enough some of our friends who lived on the third floor ,.couldn't quite reach the 'arm' and so they'd come down to our 2nd floor,.where the 'arm' could reach easily.This I beleive is where the saying ,Someone Putting the Arm on You came from it true I tell ya ,it's true.........................
