The Gazette/ Presse Canadienne

Published: Thursday, May 17, 2007

The city of Montreal delivered a new public transportation plan today which calls for a tram system, the return of tolls on bridges and highways, 400 kilometres of bike paths, and new metro stations on the eastern part of the island.

In all, the plan includes 21 projects.

The city is counting on new sources of revenue to fund these projects, including the tolls, which  would bring about $300 million in revenue, Mayor Gerald Tremblay said

The transportation plan will be submitted to the city and agglomeration councils in June, followed by a public consultation in June. Tremblay said he expects to adopt the plan in June.

Apparently, The tram will run from the north down Park/Bleury. Along the waterfront and up Guy/Cote de Neiges north again. I doubt we will get the Verdun/south shore line. When Montreal gets in bed with Quebec, we are the poor cousins.   Ed
