It looks like we are going to get hit really hard down here in Washington and Oregon. We are expecting 100mph(160km per hour) winds on the coast, and 75mph (120km per hour) inland where I live. The creeks are really flowing again already. Will keep you posted.......as long as we don't lose our electricity. I may have to get the old PC out, and use that. Your right Winston,.I saw the weather channel map, and they show the winds coming this way from your direction,..we are to get hit here later this afternoon,......3rd wind storm & driving rains in as many days,...but today & I think tomorow are to be the worst: better than the white stuff,Winston.......... except it's really taken a toll on the trees all around here,..... Personally I love this stuff,....it's awesome stuff to watch,........ Mother Nature letting us know ,she's in charge,.......
Well Winston ,this might be the start of the Storm,...the skies have just blackened somewhat,.and the rains have atarted,...but wind as of yet,........but it does look like Westcoast gloomy winter type of day,.........considering i is only 11:25 am,.....and it's getting as dark as say 4 inthe afternoon (wintertime )
Hi Les_F It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, just not the kind of Christmas I'm used to. Snow coming down now, windy, dark. Sounds like the start of a book I've read...it was a dark and stormy night....only thing is that it's only noon. We've already had our 6 feet of snow....no more already! But I must say, it really looks Cheers.
Wow you guys really have been hit with the white stuff haven't you,...Ours has been gone for quite a while,.but not without causing some problems around here,....We have been lucky ,with no loss of power (so far anyway), some damage to a couple of trees,....but generally not too bad...... but as you say it's a dark stormy night (except it's Noon).........hahahaha .........................................it is as you say awesome............... I think I might wait till the winds pick up (supposed to get real windy over the course of the next day or 2)............then I walk over & take some pics of the waves crashing over the beach..........? I'll see how I feel then,......
Linda. 6 feet of snow???? I'm sorry. As of this moment I am not going to complain any more...................or maybe not as loudly. Sorry that you guys are getting all that white stuff, but can I be honest here? Ya Ya Ya, how come do I want to start now????? I am very VERY thankful not to be getting that stuff down here. In Montreal, there is not much choice, and we eventually accepted the fact that we were in for months and months of snow. Some of the time it was fun, and one thing was because we were younger and more or less had more stamina. Hang in there, spring is just around the corner....sure it is!!!!!

Guess we both know that the real, neat, awesome place to be in a storm like this is on the westcoast of the Island, over in Tofino. Unbelievable. Only once did we venture out on the rocks in Ucluelet near the lighthouse in a storm, and my other half almost got swept away in the undercurrent. Powerful, beautiful .... but commands respect. Winston, I must have been very, very naughty this year.....we are getting dumped on again. Has already accumulated at least another 2 inches on the ground, and still coming down like a bugger. I am not amused, in fact, I think I'll throw a temper tantrum, that'll show 'em. I mean if I'm going to be bad, then why not take a whole year's worth of badness and throw a real, good, tantrum.....here goes.....
Super picture Linda(Mom45),.......and those waves are higher than one would think,,,,,,,,and you bet you have to be careful during storms,..we've lost more than a few (usually tourists) off the rocks up there when a larger than average wave comes in,.....very dangerous (and you guys know better)..........\ truth is I'da been right out there with you...........hahahahaha I love that stuff,but there is a time when you bow to Mother Nature (the other MOM).........hahahaha Winston that sounds like some wild stuff your gonna get,..and it's on it 's way here to,......pouring here right now & very grey ( I love it),..... but nature demands we respect it,.......so watch yourselves down there,the good side unless you have slides,..is that it shouldn't turn to snow for you,at least on the MT StHelens site this am: said snow level was 4000-7000ft level, but we all know that can change in a hurry. Linda. Les. It is 3:40pm here. We just lost power for about an hour. It is back on, so they are keeping on top of things. Of course the more people who lose their power, the longer it will take to get it back on. Oh well, every clouds has its silver lining. If it goes out again here shortly, I get out of cooking supper. AND THAT IS A GOOD THING!!!!!! Hang tough!!!!!!!

Hi HappyDi ,..yes you guys are having some mild weather,....even Montreal is mild right now,......enjoy it ,..We are getting all kinds of wind & up Island they have gotten a whack of snow,.......MtWashington Ski Resort here on the Island (right near Mom45(Linda) ,........reported on tonights 6pm news,.that they have rec'vd over a 'metre' of snow in the last day & a half...........hahahahaha...........Great for a Ski Resort,....but it's catching Mom's area too,..........not as much at the lower levels .,but lots just the same: I just went out before supper to tie down my patio table (cause I was too lazy,to put it away,when I put all the chairs & other stuff away).........hahahah so I was out there getting soaked as it was puring while I did it.......(No sense doing it a month ago,when I had the chance)............hahaha
Well, we got approx 6-8 inches of snow. That's the bad news. Good news, it's now turning to rain. Now, if it will just stay warm enough. There, that ought to do it. What says the rest of you? I know that I'm getting carried away with all these doo-dads, but when one is home-bound, what else is there to do but fiddle, right? Anyhow, cheers.

Les. My abition as a kid was to be a chef. But at that time, to be be a very good chef, one had to go to France, or some other part of Europe. It would have cost a lot. I could hardly afford a bus ticket. Thank heaven fro the bumpers and the little lip by the back window of the buses, otherwise I would not know what it was to "ride" the bus!!!!!! But I try!!!!!

Talk about storms; I remember one winter I bought an old dump truck. When GM closed down every January for retooling there were no cars to deliver so I made money hauling snow. The old man on the gate at the river bank had no kiosk so I'd bring him a flask to keep warm and he'd punch my card twice each time I dumped. The lad working with the blower one night was a black fellow who came from Trinidad just a week before. He was walking ahead of the blower signalling us how close to get to the blower. When we stopped for a break he jumped in my truck. It was a cold night and his beard was frozen from the blower's spray. I casually mentioned that it was cold out there and I'll never forget his answer. "C-C-C- Cold. Mon, even me sh-sh-sh-shit is froze and it's still inside me ass." I asked if he wished he was back in Trinidad and he started to cry. He said, "I can't do another week out there but I am still short fifty dollars to get back home if I had it I'd fly tonight." I gave him fifty bucks and he was gone. When they started looking for him, they asked where he was. I said that I think he's probably in Trinidad all ready. Ed
Well our storm is tapering off,.still a bit windy,.and overnight it was a 'blast' Really Hard Gust's of wind and a fairly strong sustained wind,........I love it, we have the usual tree limbs down all over the place,....and some power outages, ......I've been lucky so far,no loss of power,.... Overnight at a place called Race Rocks,.a few miles from us,...reports overnight of some gusts up to 150km,...........that is windy: but generally the reporting around here,has been up to 110 for the city,... You know what I find odd,.is that it doesn't seem to matter where in Canada(or even some of our close by USA neighbours,)......but everytime there is a slightly stronger than average type of storm,...there's all kinds of reports of power outages,.....I read a few weeks ago after a storm in Montreal & Ottawa area's ,their power went out for a while,.......What's going on?? I can Remember when I first came out here 30+yrs ago,..we used to have power outages during some storms occasionally,..understandable at the time,....but with all the upgrades,..and 'new systems' How come the power goes out everywhere so often.? Are they taking advantage of these storms,.....to sell the excess power to a higher bidder,...........hahahahaha CONSIRACY Theory's, abound,.........I'm sure there's Hydro guys in the Grassy knolls all over the country,just waiting for the oportune time to hit the 'kill' switch.............hahahahah "Life is Short" so "Everyday Above Ground is a Good Day"......... Les. I think the sky fell last night. We live out in a rural area, where there are no street lights. At night it is really really dark. Last night the sky was lit up with an amazing site. The winds were so bad that electrical systems were arcing all over the place. Because there were so many, on a continual basis, it almost looked like a grand northern lights show. On the Oregon coast winds were clocked at 106 mph (over 160 km per hour). Also trees down onto houses, limbs down all over the place. Some highways closed down between Portland and the coast. Over 100,000 houses without electricty in Portland. We lost power during the Seahawks game....no lose there... we just got it back about 9:45am. Still thankful, because it could have been worse. Hope everyone else made it thru the night.

Good morning folks.... Lost power yesterday, got it for a while this morning, but it doesn't look too good. Woke up this morning, and what did I see? Millions of snow flakes looking back at me......I'm not a very happy person right now!!!!! Cheers.
Sorry about some of the extra crap in that previous post,...i thought I had taken it all out,.....guess I missed some,..........but the point is ,it was incredibly windy ......as you know & it covered an unusually large path from your area,to well north of us..........that is a large front: 158 km's is strong for this area,..............and with all the previous rain the root systems could not hold up (literally) the enormous trees we have on this Westcoast,....................the glass half full view,......plenty of Free firewood around ,if you have a chainsaw,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Linda. We got our power back yesterday. We were lucky, and were only out for about 12 hours. I wasn't complaining, and APPRECIATED them getting us back in service, BUT I don't think I was as thankful as I should have been. Before I read your message, I was reading the news about 1,5000,0000 people out of service in Oregon and Washington, people are diing because they are using their charcoal bbq's in their houses, and also using generators in their garages without proper ventilation. Then I just finished reading your message, and you are out of service again. I hope it will be of a very short duration. So, at this time I can say I am very thankful we have our electricity. Hi Y'all, Got service back...not sure for how long though. The real bitch is snow removal up here....there is none.....lol. Well, there's the manual kind, but he's getting a little tired! Have you guys been fooling around with Mother Nature? Remember it's not nice to fiddle with her~~~~ no matter what Winston says. And Les_F being at the bottom tip of the Island, can't you do something to redirect these storms back out to sea? I can't remember ever having weather like this out here, so on a more serious note, if you're going to fiddle with Mother Nature, remember: Buy her some cute shoes.
