Concrete Evidence

More pieces of concrete are falling from the Sources Blvd Overpass,....according to a radio report this morning,..so they have 'inspectors' checking it out,.for obvious safety reasons,.........
Geez what is happened to workmanship,....these overpass's are not that old,..
is the concrete mixture's just not very good these days? Makes you wonder if anyone should even buy a Condo in some of these new buildings (say built in the last 30 years).........that's not a very long lifespan, relative to some of the great old buildings in Montreal that have been there for well over a hundred years...................
the Big O ,....section that fell off a few years ago,.was not actually surprising ,due to the 'payola' & gouging that went on ,during construction,.......diligence was not part of the idea then,.it was let's get rich
and who cares about the building,.........but when it comes to overpass's that seriously needs some look at the engineer's plans,..
Hope it isn't as serious as it possibly could be,...cause an overpass on the 2/20(do they still call it that) ........if they have to close that for repairs ,or renewal, that would create real traffic nightmares for the commute to & fro the City..........................................it's busy as it is:

What's their excuse going to be next time? The Gazette Published: Sunday, December 31, 2006 Additional examinations on the Sources Blvd. overpass at Highway 20 in Pointe Claire are unnecessary after the removal Friday of a section of a steel reinforcement cable, an official said yesterday. "The cable reinforces the concrete but it is one of several in the overpass, so it (by itself) is not essential to the structure's stability," Transport Quebec spokesperson Francois Beland said. The overpass was closed for almost 10 hours Friday until a Transport Quebec engineer deemed the structure safe, Beland said. The overpass cleared an annual inspection about two weeks ago. No additional checks are planned for another year, Beland added.

Interesting that this overpass ,had just been inspected 2 weeks ago & passed, thet didn't pick up on loose piecs of concrete ,that fell off only 2 weeks after an inspection............ and I think I remember something about the overpass that did collapse, a month or so ago,.that it too had passed an inspection, did it not? We'll see I guess....................
