A terrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.   The Picton Castle is a beautiful ship. It's home port is Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and it is often here in Halifax. I have been on board several times.   Dianne

Praying that this still has a happy ending.  I believe in miracles and Santa too.

Shirley, I believe in miracles too and most definitely Santa Claus!!   I believe in the collective power of prayer, so if we all pray, I am sure our prayers will be heard.   Dianne

Hope Remains in Search for Daughter of NHL Great Bob Gainey Monday, December 11, 2006 E-MAIL STORY PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION HALIFAX, Nova Scotia รข€”  A daughter of hockey great Bob Gainey was still missing Monday after she was washed overboard in the Atlantic during a storm while working on a sailing ship bound for the Caribbean. A Canadian C-130 Hercules has joined the search for Laura Gainey, who was thrown from the 180-foot boat Friday night and was not wearing a lifejacket. The search aircraft relieved an American plane that had been scouring the ocean for the 25-year-old daughter of the Montreal Canadiens' general manager. Matthew Brooks, a civilian search and rescue specialist with the U.S. Coast Guard, said there was still no sign of her. She was aboard the Picton Castle, a training vessel, when a wave tossed her into the sea about 475 miles southeast of Cape Cod, Mass. The crew dropped radar deflectors and lighted buoys in the water when they realized she was missing Complete story from the Fox News Network: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,235861,00.html ............................................................................................................................

I heard on tonight's 6 PM CBC news that the search has been called off for Laura Gainey.   What an awful thing to happen.  I guess we cannot under estimate the power and strength of the sea.   Her family and friends will have a hard time dealing with this, how does one have closure with something like this?   Dianne

Les......the wonder of nature....is a force not to be taken lightly....I am sure you hear all the time of fishermen being lost at sea on the West Coast as we do here on the East Coast.   Dianne
