Ps: This site is monitored but not actively posting on a regular basis. Mostly these are stories & some photos saved from a defunct site known as Verdun Connections which was on MSN Groups initially then on a social network called Multiply.

Hi Glenn ,good to hear from you,........ the author of that book was in Verdun, at the SHGV culturel centre a few weeks back,....and one of Our members Guy5479,.......went an met with him,.....I think it will be an interesting read,....Durflinger (is that his correct name ?),..has written several books dealing with History of sorts,.and one book about the Poppy Fund,............I checked with our local libvrary here (Victoria BC) to see if they had it yet .....(they do not) so I am going to request they order it,.and see what happens,.they most likely will get it for their inventory,.as the authour once (if not still) taught at UBC , but I think he is presently teaching at an Ottawa U. .........................................
Then you are way ahead of me, Les. I know I don't contribute much, but I read the days messages each morning. I read them in my morning email. It is how I start my morning at work. Cup of coffee and reading of emails. So thanks for keeping it going. It is the few that do they heavy lifting for the rest of us. Glenn
That sounds great Glen,...nice to know that there's a bunch of us ,spread out all over the globe,...reading some of the messages,...... enjoy your coffe,and jump in anytime,....I can Remember you posting quite a bit ,back in the days of the Verdun Wackers site ( I think it was there) that you posted grad pics from VCHS,(or maybe it was just linked through there?? Hard to Remember all the sites we visit over the years,..I still pop-in and check out your VCH site,....interesting front page photo,How'd you ever get everyone to stand 'still' that long...............hahahahaha just to take the photo.Looks like you all had a goodtime (it was a reunion,right ?) Either that, or it's what the present day 9th grade class would look like today ,if they didn't impose mandatory passing of everyone regardless of their marks...............hahahahaha It seems nowadays noone fails a grade (too Traumatic............hahahah) but it does make for large Graduating Classes,these days.
Hi Found this in the archives. Re the book in question can anyone tell me if they have seen this in the stores anywhere. Thinking I can go to Chapters. I know someone who was there at the cultural center and was sitting next to Mr.Elliot. She told me he looked good but did not have time to talk to him. Lad

HI: Les & Maggie, I just remembered some time back I received a C D from a friend, its the history of Verdun, from day one. In detail The pictuires are very good, and many subjects, I tried to take copies of photo direct & foreward , it did not work. I scaned and then into Pc. & posted the one above.., But there are loads of older pictures.. Now if your interested < I could find out how to make a copy, I have never burned a CD. And foreward to one of you, same could be put onto this site permantly in total. Ron Please advise

Ron, this sounds very interesting, I always love Verdun stuff! Do you have a CD burner and a young friend (I use my kids) to guide you through the process of using it? It would be great to see the CD in it's entirity (sp?) Is is a moving picture CD or stills?
Les, His name is Serge Durflinger. He is one of the founding members of the SHGV and he has just recently rejoined our society by renewing his membership. We are certainly happy to have him back as a member as he will certainly contribute enormously to our society. As a matter of fact, we are hoping to have him translate his book FIGHTING FROM VERDUN into french as much of his research was done at our library, specifically from the old Guardian newspapers. Guy
