Monsanto

It was 40 years ago ,when the Lasalle Monsanto Explosion occured, and on tongights CTV News at 6pm (Montreal) ,they are going to look into the cause of that explosion,.....
It might be interesting to hear if they have any new info,.i think they were rather quiet on that one.....and I think there was an employee killed in that blast,......
So for our members who still live in the Montreal area, you might want to catch this on the local news:
For therest of us ,it will most likely be available on Satellite ...........
but it's coming up soon ,as it is prsently 5:20 pm Montreal time,

when you "google" Monsanto Explosion", all you get is articles on the Monsanto Explosions in the US. They seem to have a history. Seems the one in Montreal never happened?

Maggie this Lasalle Monsanto Explosion,........gets no press (somebody likes it off the books),........ 49 Chemical Plant Fire, La Salle QC A FE 1966 11 no   I have come across this Canadian Disaster chart,........but they refer to the event as "Chenical Plant Fire,Lasalle Quebec" 11 Deaths according to this chart...... If it didn't happen I'll have to tell my brother to throw away his Super 8mm,home movie he took the night it happened,.....it shows up as basically a 'fireball' as the home movie camera's of the day, were not as good as todays cam-corders,......but nevertheless,he filmed it from his apartment up in NDG (I think it was) as there is an unobstructed view from there straight across to Lasalle (StPatrick St).........just on the other side of the Lachine Canal: I still don't understand ,why the secrecy ??  I guess having a 'Chemical Plant' essentially in the middle of Montreal, isn't conducive to good city planning,................although Domtar had several chen plants all around Montreal (in populated areas),.......but I would imagine there may have been some link to a Chen Plant right on an unused canal, where the untreated water they used ,.may have been 'dumped' right into the canal........... Naw  ,what am I thinking ,a big $$$ plant like Monsanto ,wouldn't do that would they? Here's a link to some other events in Canada's History http://www.ott.igs.net/~jonesb/DisasterPaper/Table2.html

Sometimes accidents happen at Chemical Plants,.............like this one ,most of us can Remember in Bhopal:
Actual Date: 23/12/84 Disaster Type: Technological Disaster Name: Bhopal Leak Details: The worst chemical disaster in history occurred in Bhopal. Water leaked into a chemical holding tank & toxic fumes spread through the plant & town, killing 3,800 and injuring 11,000. 40 tons of methyl isocyanate pumped into the air over city of 900,000..........................................................Doesn't look good in the brochure's for building new plants anywhere near city's
