Rushbrooke Street

Does anyone remember the Herron family, Teddy, Dickie & Wendy?
Address, I think, was 3400 Rushbrooke St., almost opposite the elementary school.
They moved away in Dec. 1953.

Les  F You mention Alan Leishman.  He was a schoolfriend of mine in Rushbrooke School and then in Verdun High.  He lived on River?Riverside? Street just at the bottom of Rushbrooke St in the Point St.Charles direction.  My geography is a bit uncertain as I left there a long time ago. Sincerely, edmi2310

Hi SecondAve (BC) ! Les gave a good description of Lovell’s directory. Here are some addresses on Ethel St. in 1931-32: I think you know William Cooper who lived at 3863 Ethel in those years.   JM

Wow!
Thanks JM. Yes, William Cooper was my paternal grandfather. Is there a
entry for Coopers on Grand Trunk St. in the Point during the turn of
the last century (1900 or so)? I'll check out the site. Dead ended in
the Lovell site. Which tab is the one I need? Need to get my two
remaining brain cells lined up.
Second Avenue.

Thanks Shirley and JM, yes I see the Cooper entry you both sent. How do

I remember a Turner family, there were 3 girls, one was Ruby., can't remember names of the other two.          Ron

I see a note from touchy826 in the discussions about Rushbrooke Street. That's correct about a Turner family with a daughter called Ruby.  Another daughter was Delma or Thelma and there was also a younger brother Bobby who would be somewhere around 67 years old now.  He was a friend of mine and I recall one day when he came running down Rushbrooke St. with blood flowing from his forehead - he had been struck by a swing in the park over Wellington St. where the baseball field and ice rinks were.

I am a new member and I want to mention that in that short time I have felt very welcome and I'm grateful too about the help so many people have offered.  jmhachey gave me advice about the addresses I was interested in and his reference to Lovell's Directory has given me a wonderful opportunity for revisiting, in my imagination anyway, all those childhood places.

If I remember right Alan Leishman lived on May Ave.  That was the last street in Verdun before you went under the bridge to Pointe St Charles.  I could be wrong, but thought he lived there....but it has been a long time since I lived on Rushbrooke St too and my memory isn't what it used to be.... Judy, your remarks about where Alan Leishman lived are absolutely correct.  I know the street you are talking about but mistakenly thought, I don't know why, that it was called River St.  It was indeed May Street.  Thanks for the information.

River Street was the street before May Ave/St.     Claroleca

Claroleca, Thank you for the new information.  It explains how I got confused about the two streets. edmi2310
