Hi.  I lived on Foch Cresent from 1944 to 1964 .  What a wonderful place for one to grow up in.  I remember skateing in the park in the winter when there was only a rink and a shack with a stove where we would dry our mittens, and a tennis court just behind our street.  We would go to the Old Stone House to have Christmas Parties. We also went to the building on the corner of Foch and Churchill to see Roy Rodgers movies.   My sister went to the one room school house , which later became Crawford Park School.  Our church was only a basement until they finally completed it years later.   July 1st was always a great time for all, when we would decorate our bikes or carrages and there would be prizes for the best.   I would love to hear from anyone from the park, and enjoy old memories that have never been forgotten.  Joyce Pedder

Hi Joyce:   I knew your brother Frank. Around 1965 - 1966 Frank would drive me and a couple of friends down to Nappeirville to the drags races. Did he not work for Air Canada?   My husband Paul Nowlan lived  at 1203 Foch until 1970. I think he knows your family.   Dianne

Hi Dianne.  Wow!! This is great.  Yes, my brother did spend most of his time at the drag races with  Erskin Young and many others friends.  He is living in Lachine on 46th ave and has two grown children and five wonderful grandchildren.  He married Judy, a girl from the Gaspe.  So you are married to Paul .  I remember him so well.  I use to follow him while he did his paper route.  This is what makes Connections so great.  Finding old friends.  Do you or Paul know where Brian Connely is now.  Where are you and Paul living.  I am living in Kelowna BC.   I moved here with my husband at the time, twelve years ago.  I have been on my own for the past ten years.   You can write to my e-mail address if you would like to.  It would be great to catch up.   Joyce

Hi Judy and Barry.    So glad to hear from you .  I have been so busy with family lately.  Another new grandson and lots of visitors this summer.  My sister Claire and her husband are on their way to Paris next week.  I went for a ten day trip to Montreal in July, and had a great time seeing old friends.  The place sure has changed.  I am still living on my own, and am doing really good.  Spend most of the summer at the pool in my condo complex.  What a life.   Keep Kelowna in mind for a visit, as I would love to have you both stay with me.  Its a wonderful place.   I will write more at your e-mail address.  Love Joyce

HI   DO YOU REMEMBER A DOUCETS GROCERY STORE ON CLEMENCEAU AND CHURCHILL OR IS THIS GOING BACK TO FAR.

joycie915 MSN said...

Hi John.  Yes , I do remember Doucetts grocery store.   One memoriy I have is when my brother Frank and I went to the store at the end of the day, to pick up some groceries our mother needed, and became locked inside.  I would have to guess we were around seven or eight at the time.   Well, the store was closed, but the door was left ajar, and so we walked in with out a care in the world, not knowing that the door locked behind us.   What a shock it was for us when we reolized that no one was there,  and the store was closed.  I remember telling my brother to try the phone's , but they didn't work.  You would have thought two little kids would have had a great time , eating candy , cookies or what ever we wanted, when no one was around.  Instead we both cried so loud that the Doucetts,  who lived upstairs from the store,  heard us , came down and opened up the door and let us out.  Thanks for bringing back memories of Doucetts.  Joyce

Hi again from memories of Crawford Park.  I have some great picture's of many children  sitting around watching movies at the old stone house, and would like to share them with friend's  from Crawford Park and Verdun Connections.  My problem is,   I don't know how to put them on line and add them to your  picture collection.  I know that John is in the pictures, the Greenway's ,  and so many other kids that  he will remember, so I would like any help I can get to tell me what I need to do.  I have a old computor that my son gave me, and I am not sure if it can do what it needs to do to make this all  happen.   If  I need to, I can find a friend with a more update computor , and with your help , maybe we can make it work.  Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.       Joyce

Hi Joycie915,......Those sound like really interesting pictures,....I beleive also at one time ,the Sea Cadets,or Boy Scouts ,or something like that used to meet in the old stone house as well,...but to see this colleection of yours showing some kids actually gathering there would great,: Do you have a scanner with your computer? (if yes,  the pictures can be scanned,.& then posted or emailed to one of us to post) (if no ,   then perhaps your friend could scan these photos for you ,.and either email them directly to you ,and then you can post them here,......or they may be able to put them on a clank CD-R,....for you and then you can open that CD ,on your PC,....and either store them to your hard drive,..or post them directly here that way:) Either way Joycie We will defineitly Help you figure it out,..... Also depending on where you live,.your local library also may have the faciltities to assist you in doing this as well,.....Most library's offer the use of one of their computers, and can also reproduce or print copies of things for you,.....Usually this is a Free service (the printing part ,for other documents & stuff has a small fee,.but you wouldn't need that part of the service,....Most library's are very Helpful as well: but when your ready ,just ask,...and someone here will try & help Thanks for the post,.....sounds like you have some neat old photo's

Hi again.  Crawford Park was  a very special little place to live in. We were a very small development that was part of Verdun, and yet not really Known.   The homes were war time built, and for some unknown reason, it was a place where everyone knew each .other .  I was born on Foch Cresent, in the year 1944, My father,  was a  child shipped to Canada from England, at the young age of 12, worked on farms and over the years learned the French Language, and became a Canadian .  Sometimes  I think about what my father had to do to make a home for his family , and what it took to keep it together.  Were are all the values of today's family's  going.  Everyone today is worried about material things, and forgetting what hard work our parents did to give us  the knowledge, to make our life worth while.   I guess what I was starting to say  was, wouldn't it be great if we could all get to know who lives next door to us, and have that warm  little comunity we remember from our childhood.  Where are all the Crawford  Park Kids,  and wouldn't it be great to come together today ,and share such great memories .  I look forward to hearing from you, and rebuilding friendships of yesterday. With fond memories  Joyce Pedder

Hi Joyce:   Where I grew up on Angers Street in Cote St. Paul we had that same close knit community where every one knew each other and helped each other in times of need. Today, so many of us  moved away, we on this board probably live in all 10 Provinces, many in the States and I believe Europe too. It is wonderful that technology connects us all, even though MSN is being miserable these days.   When we first moved here it took us a long time to feel a part of the community. It was only after my girls started school and I joined the PTA did we begin to make close friends. There were times I wanted to move back to Montreal, but now I am very happy living here and in fact I have lived longer here {34 years} than I ever lived in Montreal! Besides, there is no one left in Montreal that I grew up with, they have all moved away!   Having said that, it is wonderful reconnect and toshare so many great experiences from the past with people from Verdun/Montreal/Cote St.Paul .
