Prix de l'Essence - Gas Price

Here are the gas prices compared to other countries which appeared in La Presse this morning. Were not so badly off after all. (And we still complain)

Hmmmm! in Argentina the price of gasoline is only $0.04 a litre, seems their resources are shared with the people, Canada, with one of the greatest reserves of oil in the world, seems to feel that it's alright to sell it to it's people at world market prices and if it's to hard to pay it then you can freeze in the dark, really makes you feel proud to be Canadian

1.24 on the Queen Charlottes in B.C and rising.

Maybe I've found a solution to rising gas prices:   Buy oil stocks....you'll be  when the price goes up; and when (and if) the price ever goes down then you can sell, but still be  because travelling in your car will be cheaper.   Cheers.

I paid 1.193   per litre yesterday at Canadian Tire Gas Station at corner of Pierrefonds and St John Blvd. in West Island of Montreal. This is the highest I ever paid for gasoline  in 50 years of owning a car. My Mercury 1995 Station Wagon with 3.8 l engine consumes an average of  16 liters per 100 kilometers and I do about 7,000 km per year, therefore my total annual cost for gasoline will be close to $1500 or about $125. per month and going up. This is a 20 to 25% increase wich I will have to budget accordingly.    Guy

Your right Popdog,...it is getting increasingly more expensive all the time ,.on not just major purchases,.but as you mentioned even the very basics are or have already hit unrealistic prices,.....Everything is affected,...I get quite a laugh at People who have bought into the water in a bottle ,....sure if your on the go ,it's better to drink water,....but people pay outrageous prices,..and considering that most of the water in Canada is fine to drink (a few exceptions,Watertown Ont),.....but generally Our water is fine right from the tap (chill it a bit in the fridge, and enjoy),....but even other things as you found out are getting very expensive,....and clearer descisions need to be made when buying anything,........but we are a Consumer driven society,.we manufacture very little anymore,...and so we have become dependent ,and at the mercy,.of the People who provide things we need for our very survival,......Just look in your mailbox every day of the week,.and it's filled with flyers displaying all kinds of things to buy,......and we continue to get rid of our disposable income on many things that are not neccessary,.......perhaps time to Remember some of the hard learned lessons that Our Parents &  Grand parents learned ,.about not wasting stuff,...including money.........Apathy unfortunately rules in Canada,.....we complain,..but collectively We do Nothing,........and until we collectively change our habits,.then the suppliers will continue to gouge,...until they Kill the Goose,.......and then No More Golden Eggs............ I do think you have a great idea in the Gov't issuing some sort of a Canadian Credit Card,..or Discount card,.to Help people,manage,.....

Here's something else to ponder about gas prices in Canada, as the Canadian dollar goes up against the US dollar, the spread between gas prices in Canada and the US seems to stay the same as it was when our dollar was only $0.62 US

les__f MSN said...

That is a good observation DzlDawg./////////////not entirely surprising,.......but what's more annoyinh is that when Our Canadian Resourses,(Oil) are sold (exported) the company making the ourchase doesn't pay the (Grab& Steal Tax),.....they pay it ,.then apply for it to be returned,....so were really being gouged,......\ Heard the prives in Vancouver inexplicably jumped to $1.26/litre,......yesterday,..Guess that will happen here today,as Victoria generally is higher than Vancouver,....... Look for it to get higher ,.........during Summer months,.......peak driving times,..now if that isn't price fixing ,what is? .............hahahaha they know you drive more ,so the price goes up,.........C'est la Vie,......................                                                                     HF&RV

Canadian dollar today whoooo hooooo over 90 cents - yeah I know it doesnt help our exports but it sure helps shopping on line and south of the border.    Gas in Calgary 108.5 at Calgary CO OP and Safeways you get .07 off.
