Andy Rooney moment

I have tried to keep myself in check with our hotmail, because it is free, I guess. BUT, so many of you have been complaining about the same things that I have been complaining to myself about. Of course I have been complaining aloud about it to myself. (Not when the wife is around though because she doesn't like it when I *#@*&%@, and I rarely talk that way anyways). Have you ever noticed that some messages appear instantly, some others appear days and days late, some others never appear at all, and this one really gets me, some others appear over and over and over, and over again and again and again. What's up with that? But all in all, I can truely say that I have been more blessed with this site than I could ever imagine. There are many on this site that have gone above and beyond
with their Verdun stories and experiences. I would mention names, but am afraid I would leave someone out. But I can tell you that you are appreciated by many of us. One name I will mention, is my niece Connie who is a member of VC, and lives in Calgary. She is the one that told me about this site, and am I ever glad she did. Thanks Connie. Maybe I will thank individuals later. Winston Allison

I would seriously doubt that elections Canada,.has anything to do with the slow operating of MSN network,.....it's an American based company to start with,.....and we have been experiencing glitches & problems,.with the network for years,.(albeit periodically),......heavy traffic can slow down any internet server,...but I would have to see some sort of written explanation from MSN,..as to Why, a certain groups usage, actaully slows down,a huge network,...... I just don't buy that one,........but  it's an interesting theory

Les MSN,I don't think they will put that in writing. I agree it's the traffic slowing things down.Where is this extra traffic comming from?Look at how many canadates there was,and how many aides they had. You wait all those computors will be auction off. They are probably top of the line ones.So the used computor stores across Canada will have them in stock.Remember they had to comunicate with every canadates across Canada.Your right they are not goverment.I should not have said elections Canada. It didn't slow down during the US presidential elections........(and I suspect they would have a few more people on their contact list,,,,,,,,,,) ......and MSN or any service provider would be more than happy to 'explain' something away,.by agreeing that it's network malfunctions were caused by a Country with slightly more people than California,.....I still don't buy that reason,... .......it doesn't make sense,in my opinion,.. .and it still wouldn't explain all the other slowdowns,...from years gone by in any case it doesn't really matter what we 'think' the cause is,....only that they work to improve their service,......... I would Imagine that MSN, as well as everyone's local ISP,..has had umpteen calls relative to the slowdown,.......it more & more seems to be isolated to MSN and their generic,..."we are upgrading our network all the time"  speech,.which I have had several,....i have contacted them numerous times to try & solve or get answers to some of our members questions over theyears,....and also to try & solve various other mysteries,....I never really recieve a definitive answer,to actual MSN network related problems,..(but I continue to seek answers) all we can do is Hurry Up & Wait,...............hahahahahaha

Hi winnie3ave   I agree with you, this sight is wonderful and blessed. I love reading  all the things that people post. It is wonderful that everyone remembers Verdun and loved it as much as I did.  I am afraid I don't add too much to the site, I feel alittle lost. Most of the people on this site are from the end of Verdun where I didn't grow up. I grew up on Bannantyne ave between Valiquette and Rolland. I really don't  know any of the people everyone talks about except maybe one or two. It lifts my spirits to read all the messages. You all seem to know each other or of a mutual aquatance. I am glad that I opened this site. Have Fun and Remember Verdun Wendyjo

wendyjo,   First off, there is no "right end" of Verdun, why some of us (like myself) didn't actually live in Verdun.....but I attended VHS and hung around Verdun.  And really "strangers and just friends you haven't met yet", so hi friend.  Post pics/anecdotes/stories and just see what kind of response you get.  I venture some members on this site are from the very same section of Verdun as you.    Hope to see some pics of "your" area of Verdun.   Cheers.

Hi Mom1945Linda,   I would love to post pictures from my end of Verdun, but honestly I don't have any. I have been living in Victoria B.C. since Oct1978. My Mom passed away i July 1996 and my Dad passed away in March 1997. I have no idea what happened to all the pictures that my parents had taken . I guess I should ask one of my siblings whom still live in Montreal. No one ever brought pictures up to me, so I am not sure where they have gone. I wish I had some. HF and RV  Wendyjo

I also forgot to mention. I went to Woodland school for grade8 and then to VHS for grade 9. Then I ended up at Rosemount High School , because that was the school that offered the nursing program that i was in. I'm not sure if anyone from VHS would remember me. I did have an older sister and brother that went to VHS. My brother left in 70 or 71 and my older sister I think graduated in 1968, but I am not sure. My younger Sister graduated in 1973. Then there were 5 more after that. HF and RV  Wendyjo

wendyjo,   See, we have something in common already, I also live on Vancouver Island, half-way up in the Comox Valley!  There are quite a few of us out here on the Island.  Of course pics aren't always the criteria to start conversations, sometimes it's a "Have you ever" or "Did you know that" or some such thing.    I'm sure that people from "other" places in Canada have all had similar experiences as us, only difference I guess, is that we continue to stick together...even if it is on a site such as this.  So please join in, won't you?   Cheers.

Hi Wendy. Joy Gibbs was in my grade 9 class at VHS. Are you her sister? We weren't friends but she may remember me.

wendyjo MSN said...

Hi MaggieMcK,   Yes Joy Gibbs is my sister. She is 4 years younger than me. Joy still lives in Verdun. She works at Riverview School as a Integration aide. Her youngest daughter goes to Riverview. Wendyjo

That's really interesting. My niece is a student at Riverview. She's in grade 3. My youngest daughter is also in grade 3 here in Saskatchewan. If Joy has access to email, would you please pass on my address to her?

I don't know if Joy has access to e-mail, but I mwill pass on your address to her. Wendyjo

Wendyjo. Thanks for your response. Most of us did not know each other before we joined this site, so don't feel that you have little to contribute. You will find that the more you read on this site, the more you will get to know the others on here. Before you know it, you will feel like you are talking to some old friends. You will be very surprised that in no time at all, you will fit right in and be another friend that we can talk to. Many on VC grew up down your end of Verdun, as you will soon learn. Someone will mention something that will trigger a memory where you will be saying; "Wow, I remember that." So enjoy yourself and have fun with us here. Thanks again. Winston Allison
