There's a band name I haven't seen for a while. Out here on the west coast nobody's ever heard of Mashmakan. As I remember they were originally called Trevor Payne and the Triangles, also a band nobody has ever heard of out here. They did lots of dances in Verdun in their days.

i knew that pierre senecal (wrote as the years go by) and jerry mercer (later april wine) were in the band but Trevor Payne...l

Trvor taught at John Abbott CEGEP in the mid '70's and I heard that he later taught at McGill. And that he is in the West Island now.

Trevor Payne was leader of a band called "Trevor Payne and the Soul Brothers". Not sure why, but Trevor Payne left the group and, moved to Ottawa. Then the 3 guys left behind went as the Soul Brothers for a few gigs that I remember, and then added a keyboard player to form Mashmakan. Saw these guys as the original group with Trevor Payne and the 3 man group both at VCHS "sock hops"...... and then Mashmakan played our "VCHS Prom". p.s Jerry Mercer was from Verdun, one of the avenues I think...above Bannantyne.
