It doesn't look like there is an English version yet (any volunteers that want to translate?) It's certainly worth "fumbling" through anyway.  Thanks Guy.

Maggie, Unfortunataly, there are no plans to have an English version but it certainly would be an asset. Guy

Woodland was renamed to Verdun Elementary School as for Rushbrooke School i'm pretty sure it's been closed down for years and was converted into lofts     rob

My brother who still lives in Verdun sent me the Verdun Connection link and I have had a few quick looks around. Some of the comments have made me remember many things about growing up in Verdun. I was born on Egan Ave in April 1931, so that makes me 74. I lived for most years on Woodland Ave. and went to Woodland School. I remember many things these years and the principal was Mr. Drybourgh, may not be spelled correctly, who walked through the corridors slapping his strap against the lockers to put the fear of god into you, if you happened to be sent out of the room to stand in the corridoors. Also we went to school along the top of the high banks of snow in winter, which was lots of fun.

Sandy. When you said Woodland. I immediately thought of Desmarche. I lived on Woodland for awhile, between Verdun and Wellington and did not think it was very special. Thanks for clearing that up. Thanks. Winston Allison

Rusbrooke School has been closed since about 1957.  Woodland is still open.

Thank you so much for that picture of Woodland School...It has been many, many years, but I still get that feeling in the pit of my stomach, thinking about my first day. Here I was a little french girl starting her first day in an english school. We lived on Osborne then. I still remember my teacher's name. Miss Baumforth. That was about 1937or 38.....How about that for memory. Jackie from Galt.

Hi Jackie; By any chance did you know any of my Dad's family; the Pierceys, they lived at 842 6th avenue? There would have been Kenneth, William, Allan, Ralph, Brian, Marjory, Dorothy, and Bernice. My Dad Ken(81) is probably the oldest. Brian(63) is probably the youngest. All are alive with the exception of Ralph who was killed in WWII.                       M.P.U. aka Ralph.

Hi Ralph...My memory is rather retarded at the moment, but the Pierceys don't seem to come to mind. Do you have any idea how I would know them ? Jackie from Galt

multipurposeutensil MSN said...

Jackie;     I just thought maybe you might have known any of them. I have inquired from a few people, and have so far only found one person that knew one of my uncles. I figured with such a large family, I would find more. Thanks anyway, Ralph.

I knew Bernice as she was friends with my friend
Joyce Underwood who lived across the street from you.

I'm sure Allan Piercy was in my class at VHS in 56
or 57. I know I've got the last name right, not sure about the first.  I
remember he was a good runner. I ran the mile race in the school track meet and
came in second to him.

Margo; My Aunt Bernice was married to a guy named Fraser, however she is now divorced and living on the West Island. She has two girls Stephanie & Pamela, and two boys Kevin & Kim.                                        Ralph.

Wayne; My Uncle Allan was married to a woman named Pat, but is now divorced. He lives somwehere in the Toronto area. He has two boys and two girls I believe, but I can't remember any of their names. It has probably been 20 years since I have seen him.                Ralph.
