Sturgeon

I remember somewhere in Ville La Salle or Lachine in the 50s, where
they kept a couple of huge sturgeons (couple hundred pounds each I
think) swimming in a cement pond. We visited the place once or twice in
the summer months.

of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the
things that tormented me were the very things that connected me with
all the people who were alive, or who have ever been alive."

Steve is that place still there? What else was there? My memory fails

Hi  Bill  SecodAve,......Here's a site showing some kids on a group field trip,.to the Bio-Dome in Montreal,.....part of the attraction at the Montreal BioDome is they have some Giant Sturgeon there, that are supposed to be over 100 years old,......I'm guessing that these could be the same ones you looked at many years ago,....You could try to contact someone who works at the BioDome itself,..and see if they could point you in the direction of just Where they got these sturgeon,....it possible I suppose that the Aquarium in Lachine ,donated them to the much larger BioDome........it's just a thought, but maybe they have some old pictures available of the original aquarium,.......I have tried to find some Lachine Museum/Aquarium,....but so far I haven't been successful........but scroll down to past day 3 of this field trip ,.and you'll see apictures of a strugeon......  maybe it's a familiar face......    http://www.liveworkplay.ca/MONTREAL/          Hope you find some info, there is a live webcam also,...it's the same one that can be found on the Montreal Cam site....that site is the one that has different cams around te city of Montreal,...including a Peel & Saint Catherine cam............    Good Luck                HF&RV

Les thanks for the tip. Here is an excerpted bit from that site. I
included the penguin part only because of an amazing film I watched
last week called 'The March of the Penguins'. You wont regret this
French made documentary I think.

.............................
The St. Lawrence section has many interesting fish, but as promised by
Chris, the sturgeon were the star attraction. They are huge, and quite
beautiful in their own way!
At the end of it all was the polar world and the home of the macaroni
penguin, rockhopper penguin, gentoo penguin, and king penguin. They
like to play and enjoy coming right up to your face on the other side
of the aquarium glass.
