Hi Winston
Are you the same Winston Alliston that was known as "BUMPY" when you were a kid back on Third Ave.?Do you remember Billy Alexander or Eddie Featherstone ?

Not sure if you are referring to the same Eddie Featherstone - the guy I am thinking of worked in the Brokerage business on the trading desk - seems to me that I heard that he passed away - he was good friend of Taylor Cahill when they both worked for brokers in Montreal - Taylor also I believe is gone.

I am sure my Uncle Winston will reply also but just to let you know Winston is the older brother of "Bumpy" (Hartland).  Unfortunately Bumpy passed away suddenly of a heart attack in 1995 at the age of 50.  He was living in Calgary at the time.   Connie (Coleman)

Hello out there...This is Billie, Winstons' wife....Just wanted to let you know that Winston has been(as Connie called it MIA)...We got home from Vegas after having such a good time and on the Wednesday poor baby started throwing up which he never does...It lasted 24 hours...then the other "end"....6 days....and still a little...BUT being a man he wouldn't let me take him to the Dr....UNTIL Saturday at midnight when I quietly explained that they couldn't do much for him when he was dead....We went to the emergency room(I work at this facility) and in less than 2 hours had him hooked up to I.V.'s and in a room...He was in kidney failure and had an inital blood pressure of 68/40...Being hypertensive normally....he was completely dehydrated and probably would have died had he not given in.....So we are home now and doing so much better,
but will be a few weeks I am sure before he is able leap those tall buildings again......I am thankful to have him home..But did want to let you all know he is home now and will be back to his silly self very soon......Billie

Thanks to you all for your get well wishes. I am doing so much better. I can tell you one thing. That was the sickest, and most miserable I have ever been in my life. Surpasses any hangover 10 times more than any I have had in my life. AND I quit drinking 26 years ago. That "flu" (they still don't know what I had) stuff sucks!!!! I am not going to stay on here for more than a few minutes today. But I will continue reading messages off and on. Will be back to normal (YA RIGHT....BEING FROM VERDUN AND NORMAL....NOW THAT IS AN OXYMORON, EH!!!!!) Thanks again to everyone. Maybe I needed that to smarten me up???? NAAAAAAAAA

Sandy. I think we are normal as possible. What with the cramped quarters we all lived in, the water, the laneways, the iceman...and someone yelling at us when we tried to "steal" a chunck of ice when the iceman carried his load up the back stairs. "Get away from there, you'll get trenchmouth!!!!!" That statement to this day is still ringing in my ears.
But....It sure was fun....In Verdun!!!!

Winston....Welcome back! Glad to hear that you are on the mend and that you haven't lost your sense of humour!!! Don't over do it, take your time, and you will be as good as new.......   Is trenchmouth the same as hoof and mouth disease? LOL!!!Geeez, it's a wonder any of us are still here and able to talk about it!   Dianne

Sandy ~ another memory.  My sister got impetego (?) probably from drinking in those stupid drinking fountains we had in school.  The cure was some sort of ointment that she had to put on, and it was purple colour.  I seem to remember that it was a very serious thing, and was very contagious.

Linda  The ointment your sister  had for the impetigo was probably gentian violet  which went on purple.  It is such a nasty thing and sooooo contagious. Laurie

Just got a call from the emergency room nurse. She has confirmed that I have tested positive for Norovirus.... No wonder I was sick. What the hell is up with that?????

Winston ~ good news is that you are on the mend.  Get lots of rest and take any medicine prescribed.  You'll soon be bouncing right back to your usual self.  Seems to be a serious outbreak down in your State from what I've read.  Glad to see you back and posting again.   Cheers.

Les. That Norovirus was hitting our seniors in assisted living places. Many died. Now there is a high school in Portland that has hit about 100 students and staff. Thanks for you comments. It it much appreciated. Winston

Sandy, the names just don't ring a bell.  But now that I think of it, I don't know that I ever heard of anybody else ever getting impetego.  It was a real bugger for my mom to keep everything my sis used separate from the rest of the family, including stuff like eating utensils, facecloths, towels, etc.  In those days (early '50's) my mom didn't have a washer/dryer but a plug-in washing machine and clothesline....what a chore.
