Verdun in the 40's.

I was talking with my mom (Reita Lummis) and she threw some names at me while I read some Verdun Connection messages to her. Thanks Reggie, for the unfortunate update on Bucky Hollingsworth. I also have to ask Bruce if he is a relative of Betty Brown or Joan and Judy Brown.(Judy married Tommy Phillips) Maybe Ed (Brown) knows these names? Mom talked about Jimmy and Johnny Bartlet, apparently Johnny knew the "Lucky ol son" song very well. Other names that she recalls from growing up in Verdun in the 40's are....John McGillvry (the funeral home family), Irene Matson. Margorie Rankin, Wanda Wrigley, Betty Graham, Ruth Baggot, Buddy Larocque, Sheila and Stanley Pearce, Ann Oulton, George Clifford, Cynthia Pittman, Joan Martin, Ronnie Hare and a family by the name of Gunn. If anyone else recalls these names or knows of their whereabouts, please let me know. I may not have spelled last names correctly.

My mom also lived in the neighbourhood, Stan's sister spent time at her house when Stan was off to see doctors.

At that time..it must have been hard for Stan. Such a rare condition to grow up with.
Do you remember the Brazils and the only black family (Gibbons)? that lived near the halfway on Rushbrooke.

I worked with a girl who went out with a Stan - I wonder if it is the same Stan - he had ears disfigured - cant remember about his hands.  How old would this Stan be?? His girlfriend was Bev Brown.

maggiemck MSN said...

Stan's sister, Shirley, would be about 71 now so Stan would be on either side of that.

Thanks then I am sure that it is the same guy who would be around 68 - he was a very nice guy and used to pick her up and drive her home after work from PVM.

What a great picture of my sister...e-mailed it to her, we do not recognize George though.  Do you know where the picture was taken?  My husband thinks it is down at Grand Trunk Boating Club.  Thanks Judy (Brown) Wright
