Hubby bought me a 1967 GTO convertable, 389 4 speed, geared for the 1/4 mile. I think he bought it for himself as i didn't drive a standard{3 petals-2 feet} so he gave me his 1964 custom sport convertable and took the GTO. going through the states the troopers picked him up as a draft dodger. lots of sweet talking to get out of that one. patsy
1949 Mercury with Sun Visor and i added some fender skirts, removed all the chrome. it was a grey color when my dad sold it to me for a mere $300.00. I took it to the body shop next to the 5th Avenue Movie Theater, any body remember that shop, it had a ramp that you had to drive up to get into the shop. The brick wall next to the ramp was the Movie Theater Don't believe that that ramp is there any more. Anyhow of on a tangent, I had it painted a cool Green metallic. Bob g

Bought a 1953 dodge four door..standard shift..brother would not teach me how to drive..took it out to the farmers roads and taught meself..(1960??)
In 1975 my mother bought me a car on the premise that she was going to learn to drive. She never did learn, but she didn't want to look like she was spoiling me. We went to Keating Ford and she paid $2500 for a 1971 Pinto! It certainly had its share of problems, but it did get me places. I drove it many times to Val Morin for the weekend. $7.00 to fill the tank and 3 quarts of 10W40 for the trip. The timing chain went on Beurling one night and strange thing was my father happened to drive by at that exact moment. The final straw was when I took it in to the Texaco (?) at Woodland and Champlain, Ray Legeuf who had always looked after my dad's cars looked at the front end of the car and told me to get rid of it saying "You're too young to die darlin!"
1967 RS-SS 396 4 speed ragtop Camaro, got it for $850.00 in '75 sold it to a tranny shop on Verdun Ave near Church for $800.00 after blowing the tranny three times (gee. I wonder how I could have done that)

Bob found the car in an old turkey barn. It had been parked and the owner started to tear it down and then died. It was in that state for about 14 years before Bob bought it and started the "body off" restoration. Although it wasn't his first car, the 57 T Bird was his first "Dream Car". A few of us would go to Carlisle PA every year for the parts he needed to keep it original. 312 cubic inch, 4 barrel carb and runs like a rocket! When you think of the work involved, looks like all the years in the elevators really paid off!
Now this topic has to be a good one to bring back from the brink,....almost everyone has had one car at least...________Let's see how it does second time around,....there is BTW a picture of Alan Archies brothers 57 T-Bird,....a beauty to say the least,...I'm surprised the picture was still here in the thread......... hahahah that's true bubbacut,....I can Remember driving around with Brian Blackburn ( who ended up buying & running Barry's Fish & Chip),.......we all had to chip in ,for the gas...........hahahah and it was about 50 cent s a gallon..........
First car was a used 1958 Chevy two door hardtop.
It was a great car. I ran it well after the rear floorboards had rusted
out. Passengers had to ride with their knees pulled up to their
chests.
When going up a hill, the wipers would stop which
made for interesting driving around Montreal.

I can Remember working on several cars,.that were going to be my wheels,..I had a '57 Chev 6cyl automatic,...with the reverse gear at the bottom,instead of next to park,,,which was weird,....but allowed for revving the crap out of it and slipping it in reverse and doing the burnout in reverse..........hahahahaha anyone Remember those automatics,.....the first one I had licensed and on the road,was a '63 Chev,....the oldman gave me........I adjusted the front end on a pole on lasalle blvd....and that was the end of that one............hahahaha I have a picture of it somewhere,.with nose a little shorter than the factory had planned on...............hahahahaha

I had a '64 Beaumont ,.with a BigBlock 402 ,4spd,..Posi-rear end,....I had it built for me at the Claude Primeau Speed Shop in St Isidore ,Que,..across the Mercier Bridge,......I had it in two different Beaumont;s the '64,.& a '65 both 2dr posts,....I still have the Power train tarped up,..after 30 some odd years,......aside from that dirty 66 in my garage,....( that I'm trying not to turn into a shelf)...........hahahahaha I'll have to dig out some pictures
A friend of ine had a 58 chevy impala withe a 348 put in .It was a six but the 348 looked a lot like a 409.......... Steve
Was it a dark burgundy '58 ,....cause I looked at one in Verdun,.in the late 60's maybe 1970.......it was a 348CID,..and your right ,.looking at them ,there was only one way to tell them apart ,...Do You know what that was,....cause I do,.i lost a bet on it ........

Les the 58 was a black 2door red interior and a hardtop..... It had a tubler grill and the tail light were the 3 on each side with the lenses were just flat red ones oh it had a 3 on the floor and possy rear end.Have you seen the new Elephant car??????????? Here's another T-Bird...... Steve
