Hello    Littleone 0928  ...(Deanne)  Do you have a relative named Fred Scanlan who played in the Professional Hockey League  (I would guess prior to the formation of the NHL??   As far as adding a photo , there are two ways to do it that I can see........However Maggie or Sharon seem to be the best at conveying the 'How To' way to get things done .   So I will defer to them .........However welcome to the site I hope you become an active Participant in the discussions that pop up .....If you can shed aome light on the Growing up (and /or living in Montreal)  then please feel free to express your stories at length , as we would love the feedback...and the group has allways Welcomed new stories and the addition of any new member....................Welcome to Verdun Connections .........   Have Fun & Remember Verdun  ...looking forward to seeing your Dad's photo ..............( and of course any you care to share with us)

Hi there!  I actually attached one of the pictures to my original message.  It's a PDF file.  You should be able to open it wih Adobe.  That particular picture of my dad's team has the letter G on the front of the uniforms.  I think maybe that stood for Griffintown.  I have another one at home with a V on the uniform & think that one may be Verdun.  I haven't had time to scan it yet.  I don't recall a relative by the name of Fred.  My dad's name was Gerry.  Also in the picture was his brother Leo.  Both are deceased.  As for me, I grew up mostly in Westmount but moved to Verdun for my last two years of high school.  I found out about this  group from Classmates.  It was either Ron Leonardo or Bill Jacques who told me about it.  I have communicated with both through Classmates & met Bill for coffee when I was home last month.  My mom still lives in Verdun on Desmarchais.  I'm at work right now, so must run.  Deanne.

Hi Winston!  I responded to another message telling a little about myself.  Will fill in more later.  When I was home last month to visit my mom I managed to connect with a couple of old friends.  Had coffee with Bill Jacques.  Talked to Terry Hogan by phone.  Had lunch with Shirley Ann Yates.  Hope to make it home again next spring and connect with a few more.  Seems so many have moved away.  Found out a few had passed on.  Seems like only yesterday we were all heading to Whites or the Pav. More later.  Deanne

Hi Deanne,

Terry Hogan is a name from the past! I knew Terry, his brother Lester & his father Lester (loved the Fiesta!). If you have an email address or phone number, I'd love to get in touch with him when I get up to Montreal next time. You can respond to my address.. aarchib470@aol.com

Thanks!

Alan

Hi Alan ..I think the Hogan's actually owned the  Fiesta at some point ..........I know my brother knew Terry ....I met him a few times , but can't say that I actually know him.other than through my brother..................How's things in Mass(Boston)?  haven't seen you on here to often lately , Dannyb is also a rareity (sp?) these days.......I would imagine he has a full schedule ,maintaing the house & routine while his wife gets better.......in any case    Have Fun & Remember Verdun...............

Hi Les,

You're right, his father Lester did own the Fiesta. My wife, then girlfriend lived at Montmorency & Grand Trunk. The Fiesta was about the closest watering hole. His brother Lester was Sales Manager at Keating Ford.. I bought a couple of cars there, but changed my mind at the last second and never took delivery of them! Terry was very good friends with my brother Bob. They all would hang out at Whites (Woodland & Wellington) with their muscle cars.
Things are getting busy in the Boston area now that tourist season is back. I work in the city and you can see the volume of "people traffic" has increased. It will be nuts here when the Democratic National Convention is held here in July. There is a major concern of a possible terrorist attack so they are just about shutting down the entire city around the Fleet Center. During that time, we will be able to get into the city, but the highways will be shutdown at 4 pm so getting home will be a challenge!
I am making a real fast trip to Montreal today. I have a wedding to attend tomorrow and will see Danny on Sunday before I head back. Tight work schedule not to mention Memorial Day on Monday so traffic at the border will be brutal!
Gotta run.. catch up to you next week & have a great weekend!

Alan

Hi Deanne, welcome to Verdun Connections. I hope you find everything here that you hope to! I saw the hockey picture....Wow! If you save the pictures in JPEG format when you scan them, they will be easier to post and email. Let me know when you have them and I can talk you through on Yahoo messenger or MSN messenger. I can't save or post your current picture because it is in PDF. It can only be viewed by clicking on the 'link' in your message.

Thanks Maggie. The one I think is from Verdun is framed & on the wall at
home. I'll see if I can scan that one this weekend. I seem to remember my
mom saying he played for Verdun and maybe even the old Montreal Maroons. I
purchased a book a couple of weeks ago call The Hockey Chronicle, which
goes way, way back up to 2002. I found several articles about the Maroons
and a picture, but my dad wasn't in it. Even though I've been gone from
Montreal since 1965, I'm still an avid hockey fan. The team closest to me
is San Jose, so needless to say I'm a Shark fan. I'm rooting for Calgary
so I can say my team got beat by the best. Ha. I'll be in touch with you
next week for instructions on how to post the pictures. Thanks again,

Deanne

Hi there!  Yes White's was on the corner of Woodland.  Billy Knight sounds familiar.  For some reason or other I think maybe I'm realted to him.  I'll check with my sister.  I think he was a few years older than me.  I'll get back to you on that.  What years did you hang around Whites.
